A note from Ash:

When your WHY is a driving force so strong you can do anything— you choose to run 26.2 miles for that “why”.

In this case, my WHY is my Dad. The strongest man I am grateful to know. The backbone of our family’s strength and a champion living with Parkinson’s Disease.

To understand the deep rooted strength in my “Why”. I have to take you back through years.

Let me tell you... our family has been through it. My dad survived being hit head on by a drunk driving days before Christmas with 3 kids under the age of 7. A few years later he was hospitalized for nearly 2 Years with life threatening medical issues.. In 2001, we lost my sister suddenly to Bacterial Meningitis. This past year my Mom’s was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and my Dad’s Parkinson’s Disease discovery. I tell you these not as list of tragic events for sympathy, but to show that regardless the curve balls life has thrown at us, we have stepped up to the plate, together, as a family.

If there is one think my parents have always taught me, it is that we can’t change the past, but we can learn from it. Through every struggle we gain strength for the next challenge. Most importantly, make a difference where, when and while we can.

The Parkinson’s Foundations mission is to make life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. MY mission is to do anything I can to help.

On November 7th, I will lace up my running shoes and take on my first Marathon, THE New York City Marathon with and alongside the Champions of the Parkinson’s Foundation.

26.2 Miles seems pretty daunting, but I know my WHY will be with me every step of the way.

We run and will continue to run for people with Parkinson's because this disease not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Every dollar counts, thank you for your support!
